Panonska vas – a perfect weekend getaway

First of all I don’t do much travelling lately. However, when I do travel it is usually somewhere close to our home and for shorter periods of time. Last time that we got away was to a place called Pannonian village or Panonska vas in Slovene. And what a place it was.

The resort is located in Prekmurje, a Slovenian region that I don’t visit that often or is it fair to say almost never. I can’t even remember the last time I was there. So when I was browsing the internet for a place to take my children on a short break I came across this resort. It’s very close to a  thermal spa resort called Terme 3000 so it’s perfect if you have children who like water parks.

Pannonian village is a very peaceful and beautiful place where you can really relax and recharge your batteries away from the hustle of big cities. I didn’t even come across a single shop the whole time we were there. The resort offers 11 apartments and 4 villas to accommodate different numbers of people. We stayed in a villa for 7-8 people so we had the whole house for ourselves. All the houses are built in an authentic way significant for this region and the roofs are covered with straw and the walls are made of clay. All the furniture, however, is handmade. In it you have all the comfort you need for a perfect stay. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms with a washing machine, two bedrooms and a large sunny terrace. But if you don’t feel like cooking there’s a really nice restaurant where you can enjoy local food that is delicious.

We spent two nights there but I could easily stay a couple of days longer. We explored the nearby places which you can read about on the website, ate delicious food, swam in the thermal water and above all enjoyed the hospitality of the Pannonian village stuff that was A+. It really was a perfect weekend getaway. Comes highly recommended by me.
